Mount Mansfield Martial Arts
Located in Stowe, Waterbury, Morrisville and Cambridge Vermont.
Our Philosophy: The mission of Mount Mansfield Martial Arts is to develop each student's mind, body and spirit to the highest potential, through practicing the “Rules of Honor”(Respect, Self-Control and Self-Discipline), integrity and dedication. We are committed to providing the highest quality experience to positively enhance the lifestyle and health of our students, martial arts family and the surrounding community.
Our System: At Mount Mansfield Martial Arts, our curriculum combines the full benefits of both Kempo Karate and Shaolin Wushu (Kung Fu). We believe in developing a well-rounded martial artist through introducing students to the four ways of fighting (Kicking, Punching, Takedowns and Grappling). Many schools only focus on one or a couple elements of fighting. But, in today’s changing society it is much more common to run into a would-be attacker that is more knowledgeable about fighting than ever before. While our art is based on the traditions and thousands of years of culture, we understand that an art form needs to continue evolving to be relevant in today’s society.
Our foundation at Mount Mansfield Martial Arts is based on Kempo Karate. This style is defined by its rapid hand and foot striking, powerful techniques and a focus on body mechanic concepts. This style is a perfect base for self-defense applications. Mount Mansfield Martial Arts’ curriculum also incorporates Shaolin Wushu (Kung Fu). This style is identifiable by its powerful stances, athletic movements and a focus on developing spatial and body awareness. Mount Mansfield Martial Arts is one of only a few schools in Vermont that incorporate “Kung Fu” into our standard training practices. The Kung-Fu component is vital for improving wellbeing as well as student’s conditioning, flexibility, gross motor movement and developing a connection between mind and body.
Our Teaching: At Mount Mansfield Martial Arts, we believe that classes should nurture a student’s spirit as well as body. This is why all classes are conducted in a relaxed positive atmosphere that allows students of all abilities, shapes and sizes to feel comfortable. We retain traditional values but incorporate modern training techniques to more effectively help our students reach their goals. Our beginner level Karate Kids program was designed by Sifu Scott Graner (licensed educator) to be developmentally appropriate for children’s varying needs. Students in this program learn the necessary martial arts skills required for belt rank through fun, exciting and educational games. Students also progress through Character Development projects that reinforce the “Rules of Honor”(Respect, Self-Control and Self-Discipline), integrity, perseverance as well as many other important life lessons. Our adult programs are separate from our kids and family classes. This allows for the learner to have a more adult oriented training environment. Most importantly, we at Mount Mansfield Martial Arts strive to make learning fun as well as engaging. We are positive you will enjoy being a part of our martial arts family.
